Competitive Gymnastics

In addition to a full range of recreational gymnastics, AGTC offers a competitive program. Gymnasts usually enter the competitive program through the Mini 1 or 2 programs. Pre-Comp classes are designed for the dedicated and talented gymnast who wishes to pursue competition in the future. Our competitive programs focus on all aspects of the Canadian Gymnastics facets including artistic, rhythmic, tumbling, trampoline and acrobatics.

Mini 1 - Showcase Comp

Our Mini 1 program is geared to children ages 5-6, who show the potential for Competitive gymnastics programs.  Our Mini 1 athletes train a minimum of 6 hours per week and can participate in Showcase type competitions when we see they are ready. This introduction to competition is fun and encourages positive participation.

Mini 2 & 3- Pre-Competitive

Our Mini 2 & 3program is geared to children ages 7-8, who show the potential for Competitive gymnastics programs or who have advanced beyond the Mini 1 program. Our mini 2&3 athletes train a minimum of 6-12 hours per week and can participate in invitational competitions where they present their routines for judges.

Provincial Team - Level 4 - 10

Athletes in the Provincial program train 12-25 hours per week and compete at the Provincial level. The provincial level gymnasts compete at 3-4 provincial qualifying competitions in order to qualify for the provincial level championships.  The provincial championships allow gymnasts the opportunity to compete for both team and the individual awards and may also compete in invitational competitions in order to test their skills in a competitive, team atmosphere.

National/Elite Team

Athletes in the Elite program train 25+ hours per week. They may have modified school programs in order to accommodate their training schedules. These gymnasts usually possess Olympic level skills. AGTC’s National/Elite athletes compete at various Ontario competitions throughout the year and have the opportunity to compete both in Canada and the USA.

Competitive Tumbling & Trampoline

AGTC’s tumbling & trampoline competitive program is an intense discipline designed to support our athletes by encouraging them to set goals, develop self-image, physical and mental strength and work at achieving them in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Our highly successful competitive tumblers experience a sense of team pride through their accomplishments.

Trampoline and Tumbling consists of four events: Individual, synchronized or double mini Trampoline as well as power Tumbling. Trampoline and Tumbling are high flying, fast moving sports. Athletes perform similar acrobatic skills as in Artistic Gymnastics, but they do so with greater speed and height.
